Singapore -Seoul -SanFransisco

This year is going to be the most exiting year of my life. There are two reasons for that so far and cant imagine what would add to the list.
Firstly to get married and secondly being able to fly abroad.
First is due in the month of October. The second has just happened.
I was asked to undergo a training in the US office of the company that I am working. The call came suddenly so that I had to alter all my plans for the big event in the coming months.
After a tiresome preparation I started flying on 31st July from Sri Lanka.
My first stop was at Singapore where I stayed for the night. The I started to San Fransisco on the next day morning. It was a 18 hour fly over the pacific sea and we had a stay at Seoul - South Korea.
Now I am in San Fransisco. I am hoping to post comprehensive description on each air ports in the future. (Hope the time permits me to do this)

Writing without technicality

Recently I was asked to write an article for an magazine. The magazine was to publish along with an event at the University. As I mentioned in my first article, I have the reluctant to write right from the skeleton. This has made me try to avoid writing the article. Two days before a junior who is in the organizing committee called me and asked for the article.
Worried a lot of not doing this before and struggling to find time I started writing the article.
That article was about a trip. Initially I expect this to be much technical one with all the scientific data along the experiences we gain at the trip. but as I go on I found that I am not that sound to write down fact for a magazine. Writing facts to the public has to be done with the greater concern and knowledge.
So I had to write my article in artistic manner by adding some descriptions what we see and with some humor.
The article indeed turned out as a god one. That is my initial and final full reading.
I am waiting for the published version of the magazine........

www.lakdasun.com - "Discover, Explore and Conserve the Natural Beauty of Sri Lanka "

Recently a group of nature explorers have set up a web site on their explorations. The groups main interests were nature and photography.
The site www.lakdasun.com tries to provide information for the Sri Lnakan nature lovers to get an idea and plan their voyages to the hidden troves of the country.
The site contains four main sections.
  1. Images
  2. Wallpapers
  3. Attractions
  4. Trail Guides
  • The Images and Wallpapers contains the photographs of the group members taken at their numerous explorations.
  • Attractions describe the nature destination of Sri Lanka that a nature lover should visit. These pages include the mind blowing images they have captured from their image recorders.
  • This is the most interesting section that took my attraction. The routes to some of the marvelous destinations were explained in well ordered and scientific manner.
The site has been developing day by day since its publish. As a person who loves to travel to the extends of nature I found this site becoming my bible.

Driving License.....

A day at the Dept of Motor traffic
A Driving licence is a must in Sri Lanka to drive a vehicle. To get a driving license a candidate has to face a MCQ test and a Practical
test. The MCQ test checks the knowladge of the candidate on the road signs and the road safety, while the practical test is fro the driving
ability and the road ethics.
Apart from that the application should be submitted with a medical report, copy of the birth certificate and some photos.
The practical test is inspected by a agent from the department and there are pre defined areas to be looked in to of a candidate by the
inspector.
The whole process appears like a well assuared one to select most trustworthy, loyal and efficient drivers. Well that is for an outsider.
But for a person who lives in or have visited Sri Lanka must have hundreds of examples to say that is not true.
Lets star from the begining,
There is a lot of room for a person to learn how to drivr a vehicle. The vehicle can be a Bus, Car, Motor bicycle or a Three wheeler. Other
than that there are number of driving schools all over the country. I never had the opportunity of learning dirving though we had a vehicle
at home since childhood. I dint had time to hang around the my fathers van as I was a rare visitor since 1991.
Recently I had the intereset of getting a driving license. So I joined a driving school.
Learning part is a pleasant one provided you have join a good school and learn under a good instructor. I was blessed with that ease.
After a certain number of lessons I was required to submit my application to the. The application shouold be submitted along with a
medical report from a authorised doctor. I had the difficulty of finding a one. So I asked from my driving school for a one who they knows.
They gave me a address of a clinic. The Doctor was alady at Rathmalana. Whn I go there I was expecting a medical check up at least for the
vision pressure. But this lady kept on asking questions on my health from me and filled the form based on what I said. The charge 250 rupees.
When I was waiting for the report at the lobby I had a look at all the notices on tha wall. "My god!!!" I am in a clinic for children!!!!!
Ok every doctor is a doctor. So they could be able to provide a basic medical checkup.
A couple of weeks after I have received a admission letter to the written exam.

Welcome !!!

Hi welcome all to my blog!!!!
I am bit of a alien to blogging. Writing has been the last think I wanted to do.
When studying in the Primary at The Boys Primary at Ferguson High School, Rathnapura, essays for home work was a nightmare to me. I always keep the essay to the last minute, wishing my mother would help me on this, which rarely happened.
In the O/Ls I hate languages, though I enjoy the subject a lot. I liked to read, but not to write. I have red all the stories and Novels related to the O/L Sinhala , English , Sinhala Literature and English Literature. But when it come to write essays and critics, Dman !!! ..... Why the hell they need it in written format!

I did my ALs in maths Stream. At Ananda College Colombo, very little number of students had the interest in doing Arts subjects for ALs. I was in the majority. When selecting the stream for AL I had the option of selecting one Out of maths and biology. Commerce was far away from my dreams. Though I had the pressure from my parents and some of my cousins to do biology, I had this fear of keep on writing the long essays. So I select maths.....
I have to make the note that , the reason behind me selecting maths was not my reluctance to write long essays. It helped me in making the decision.
Even getting in to maths stream didn't save me from writing the essays. Chemistry paper required a lot of writing in describing all forms of "Girawa"( Things need to remember ) parts.
This lac of interest in writing me blessed me with a "C" grade for Chemistry in my first attempt in A/L. That was year 2000....
Today 8 years later I am doing the same thing that I have never liked in a bit different way.
Same outcome "Expressing Ideas" but in very modern way.
I like this way of "Writing".... rather than holding a pen or pencil from three fingers and move it arm over a piece of paper to WRITE LETTERS in a MEANINGFUL MANNER, now, I move all ten fingers in my hands pressing these plastic buttons on a key board, wishing that the intended letters appear on the monitor in front of me.
Sure they do appear!!! With the great help of spell checking which most of the time showing red underlines under the words I type. Saying ASANKE!!! THIS IS WRONG!!!!
